Niki Ferguson - Visual Artist

Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1990, Ferguson studied Contemporary Fine Arts Practice at City of Glasgow College. Photography, colour, sculpture and environmental art inspires her thought process.

Firstly majoring in digital art and graphic design she decided to switch to fine arts. She felt sitting behind a computer deciphering computer graphics, motion software, codes etc, dampened her true abilities to be hands on, creative and to 'think outside the box'.

You might think this is strange due to the stylistic appearance of her current work embodying a bold, digital element. Her designs are inspired by everyday objects - nature to architecture, focusing on what the naked eye cannot see.

Her passions to continue her studies and fascination in sculptural, environmental art and moving image were put on hold so she decided to relocated to Birmingham, working as an amateur Photographer, studio assistant and volunteer at Eastside Projects - artist-run space. Meanwhile her growing fascination film and animation only grew stronger therefore she promoted herself as an extra, in and around London. This gave her valuable insights into how a creative environment was run and today, she seeks the chance to develop her skills within the arts / production departments.
